Franklin Street Hires Top Florida Broker from JBM

12-year Industry Veteran Jonathan Barclay joins rapidly growing firm in early Spring.  

TAMPA, April 2, 2024Franklin Street, a national, full-service commercial real estate firm, today announced Jonathan Barclay has joined the firms Institutional Services Group, as Managing Director, at the firm’s headquarters in Tampa, Fla.  

In his new role, Barclay will work alongside Managing Director Zach Ames to spearhead the brokerage of institutional-grade multifamily properties throughout Florida. The duo brings more than 25 years of combined experience with a transaction volume that exceeds $11 billion and more than 73,000 apartment units.

Franklin Street’s expansion initiative extends beyond Florida, encompassing its existing offices across Atlanta, Charlotte, Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Miami, Nashville, Orlando, and Tampa. With the recent establishment of a presence in Austin, Texas, earlier this year.

Franklin Street’s Institutional Services Group (ISG) marks a strategic shift towards catering to newer vintage, larger scale, multifamily properties. These properties will generally be 1990 or newer, with 200 units or more and valued at $50 million or higher. This represents a significant expansion in scale and opportunity for the firm. The ISG aims to provide end-to-end services throughout the lifecycle of real estate assets, offering a seamless ‘one-stop-shop’ experience for institutional clients.  

Jonathan Barclay brings over 12 years of invaluable experience in real estate, with a focus on institutional multifamily investment sales. Prior to joining Franklin Street, Barclay served as Managing Director at JBM. His expertise and leadership will play a pivotal role in driving Franklin Street’s expansion strategy and solidifying its position as a premier commercial real estate firm throughout the country.
