Real estate company Franklin Street announced Monday that is has helped its client Tijuana Flats Tex-Mex secure two new locations in St. Johns County.
When those stores open, the company will have 10 locations in North Florida.
Both locations will be in shopping centers currently under construction. One store will be added to the Nocatee Town Center on Crosswater Parkway.
In addition, Tijuana Flats will enter St. Augustine at new development at the intersection of U.S. 1 and State Road 207. The St. Augustine store is contingent upon the owner receiving final permits. A release from Franklin Street said they are confident construction will start soon. The new locations are expected to be open by late 2016 and early 2017, respectively.
The restaurants are planned to be 2,400 square feet.
“Jacksonville and its supporting markets are like a second home for Tijuana Flats,” said Patrick Fore, vice president of development for Tijuana Flats, in a release. “Expansion south of Jacksonville continues along planned development routes to connect with customer demand as these are experiencing tremendous growth.”
The release added that Tijuana Flats announced strong sales in 2015 and has recently secured new private investors to assist in expansion.
Founded in 1995 in Orlando, is a chain that offers made-to-order Tex-Mex cuisine served in fast-casual environment.

Tijuana Flats has 110 locations in Florida, Georgia, Indiana, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
