MIAMI—Hurricane season is officially upon us. Although Colorado State University forecasters are predicting a quiet Atlantic hurricane season with nine tropical storms and only three hurricanes, that’s still nine tropical storms and three hurricanes—and anything could happen.

Commercial real estate heavy-hitter Greg Matus has joined Franklin Street, a full-service commercial real estate firm based in Tampa, as regional managing partner. He specializes in real estate investment sales and will focus on the Broward and Palm Beach Counties in South Florida. Prior to joining Franklin Street, Matus ran Marcus & Millichap’s Fort Lauderdale office as the vice president/regional manager of the company’s Real Estate Investment Sales division.

Over the next six months, he will focus on opening a new office in the Fort Lauderdale market, adding a team of agents specializing in retail tenant and landlord representation, and growing Franklin Street’s retail investment sales team.

After more than a decade, Marcus & Millichap’s Greg Matus is defecting to Franklin Street, another commercial real estate firm. Matus will join Franklin Street a regional managing partner. Matus specializes in retail investment sales, and at Franklin he will focus on Broward and Palm Beach counties, according to the company’s written announcement released on Wednesday.
