Franklin Street has tapped former Multi Housing Group owner John Leonard to manage the firm’s Atlanta office as regional managing partner.

Expanding Franklin Street’s office and industrial sectors in Atlanta will be one of Leonard’s top priorities. In addition, he will oversee overall revenue, business development, ongoing team management, and training and recruiting efforts.

“Atlanta is a key in our growth strategy as a company,” said Franklin Street managing partner and CEO, Andrew Wright. “Under John’s guidance our Atlanta office will be able to focus on business development and expanding into new markets to take advantage of the robust opportunities in commercial real estate.”

Leonard brings more than 25 years of industry experience to the firm. As owner and broker for Multi Housing Group, Leonard specialized in the development and sale of student housing projects across the Southeast U.S.

Additionally, Leonard served as first vice president/regional manager for Atlanta and regional manager in Las Vegas over the course of his 15-year career with Marcus & Millichap. During that time, he headed up an 80-member team responsible for the completion of more than 3,000 transactions worth in excess of more than $7.3 billion across a number of asset types.

Active in the real estate community, Leonard is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), the National Multi-Housing Council (NMHC), the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP).

Leonard earned an MBA from the University of Phoenix in Las Vegas and a mini-MBA in finance and accounting from the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University, where he currently serves as an honorary board member of the University’s real estate department. He earned his bachelor’s degree in literature from State University of New York at Potsdam.
