Franklin Street, a Tampa-based real estate and insurance brokerage firm, is under the leadership of an executive who’s been with the company since 2009.

Andrew Wright, who founded Franklin Street in 2006, stepped down as CEO on Jan. 3, the company said. Matt Harrell, who was most recently chief revenue officer, has been CEO since then.

Wright remains chairman of the board and retains a controlling interest in the company. Harrell oversees Franklin Street’s day-to-day operations.

“Franklin Street is my life’s work,” Wright, 41, told the Tampa Bay Business Journal. “I’d never walk away from my team.”

Harrell became chief revenue office in 2021; prior to that, he was managing director of Franklin Street’s insurance services division. He has served on Franklin Street’s board of directors since 2012.

Franklin Street saw a record year in 2021, with nearly 50% organic revenue growth and over $1.43 billion in total transaction value. The firm is gearing up for a national expansion; in a news release, it said it is “actively seeking recruitment and acquisition opportunities” in Dallas, Houston, Austin, Nashville and Charlotte.
