Homestead is a major agricultural area and serves primarily as the suburb to the city of Miami. The city of Homestead is also the home to Homestead Air Reserve Base and the Homestead-Miami Speedway. Incorporated in 1913, the city of Homestead is the second oldest city in Miami-Dade County. The city has a total area of 14.4 square miles in which 14.3 square miles consists of land and the rest is composed of water.
