Area Description
East Cobb is a vibrant community located in Cobb County, just north of Atlanta. Known for its family-friendly atmosphere, excellent schools, and beautiful neighborhoods, East Cobb is a sought-after area for residents and visitors alike. East Cobb is a growing community of approximately 200,000 residents. Residents of East Cobb typically have a Marietta address, but are not located within the city limits of the City of Marietta. The East Cobb area is bordered by Cherokee County to the north, interstates I-575 and I-75 and the City of Marietta to the west and southwest, the Chattahoochee River to the southeast, and Fulton County to the east. If East Cobb were a city, it would be larger than any other city in the metro area except for the city of Atlanta. Though there have been several failed efforts to create a City of East Cobb, East Cobb remains an unincorporated area that is administered by the Cobb County Government. The excellent public high schools located in East Cobb include the highly rated Lassiter High School, Pope High School, and Walton High School districts, as well as most of the Sprayberry High School and Wheeler High School districts, and a portion of the Kell High School district. Some of the largest churches in Metro Atlanta are located in East Cobb, such as Johnson Ferry Baptist Church which has over 7,500 members and Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church which has over 9,000 members. The area is also home to major attractions The Battery (Mixed use development anchored by the Atlanta Braves stadium), Cobb Energy Center, Cobb Galleria, Cumberland Mall, and close proximity to Kennesaw State University and their 43,000+ students.
