IT service provider Vology inks big office deal, will spend $3M on buildout

Vology is on the move in Pinellas County.

The IT services provider firm is consolidating several offices in Oldsmar into one 60,000-square-foot space in the Bay Vista Office Park, the Clearwater office complex that’s also home to Tech Data. Its previous space totaled about 50,000 square feet.

CEO Barry Shevlin said Thursday that Vology has signed a 10-year lease and will invest $3 million in its new office space. Employees will move to the new office in the second quarter of 2016. Chad Rupp and Chris Butler with Franklin Street represented Vology in the office deal.

Several technology companies are choosing the region’s urban cores for their offices, but Shevlin said Vology requires five-and-a-half parking spaces per 1,000 square feet of space, which ruled out a downtown location.

“Sixty thousand square feet, contiguous with that parking ratio, narrowed the list pretty considerably,” Shevlin said.

Bay Vista is also within a 30-minute commute for 85 percent of Vology’s employees.
“I think we’re closer to the center of business as opposed to Oldsmar,” Shevlin said. “We’ve had trouble recruiting from St. Pete, and I think that’ll be less of an issue.”
