ABOUT THE EVENT

Jacksonville is poised for sustained success as the region continues to experience rapid population growth, a flurry of development and significant economic expansion. The near-term horizon and the region’s long-term strategies to ensure success will be the focal points of the official Invest: Jacksonville 2022 Launch Conference on Thursday, April 7, hosted by media platform Capital Analytics.

The event, via Zoom webinar and starting at 11 a.m., will feature an opening keynote speech by City of Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry, while prominent business leaders will drive two robust panel discussions.

Invest: Jacksonville 2022 provides a comprehensive view of the region’s economic potential and the challenges accompanying that potential from the perspective of approximately 200 local business and organization leaders and elected officials.

This year’s report focuses on the region’s key industries, including healthcare, finance, logistics, construction, real estate and tourism, while considering the impact of and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Jacksonville has weathered economic downturns before and has come out stronger each time, due in part to hosting the headquarters of three Fortune 500 companies that buoy industries across the region and create the bulwark to withstand even a global pandemic.

The first panel of the conference, “Growing Responsibly: The role real estate and finance play in smart growth for Jacksonville” will explore the relationship between Jacksonville’s real estate sector and local financial institutions and the role they play in responsibly growing the region and the local business community. Moderated by Ameris Bank regional president Brian Parks, panelists include Laura Gonzales, regional managing director of Franklin Street, McGuireWoods partner Chris Thanner, and Chad Meadows, chief operating officer of VyStar Credit Union.

The second panel, “Healthcare’s Future: What’s next for our healthcare system?” will examine the variety of ways in which the healthcare industry has and will continue to change. Mike Shumer, CEO of Crucial Care and chairman of Medical Life Holdings, will moderate the discussion, with panelists including Gina Mangus, executive vice president of advancement strategy for Flagler Health+, Provost of Jacksonville University Christine Sapienza, and Hospital President Nicole Thomas of Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville.
