On Tuesday, October 11th, Franklin Street CEO Matt Harrell spoke with Fox Weather live on TV about the challenges Southwest Florida residents and businesses will face as they rebuild after Hurricane Ian.
In the interview, Harrel explained that the rebuilding process may take several years due to existing supply chain constrains, compounded by a surge in demand for construction materials.
If there is any silver lining to be found, Harrell added, it’s that once properties and infrastructure are rebuilt to meet updated building codes, Southwest Florida will be stronger than ever in the face of any future storms.
Further, while hurricanes and other natural disasters impact insurance rates, properties rebuilt to better withstand storms will benefit from premium credits.
Ultimately, Harrell said, Floridians are resilient and Southwest Florida will continue be a place where people want to live and bring their business.
