Atlanta Power Women 2014: Part 1

Monetha Cobb is named one of BisNow's 2014 Atlanta Power Women.

Monetha Cobb
Managing Director, Franklin Street

From the age 13 to 21, retail tenant rep guru Monetha (above, with Franklin Street Atlanta regional managing partner Mac McCall) shadowed big sis, retail leasing broker Gina Thomas, learning the commercial real estate biz. No surprise Monetha’s first job out of UGA was with Ben Carter (she’d already been there for years stuffing envelopes and separating blue print plans) as a junior leasing assistant. But she quickly proved her value atThe Shopping Center Group, where she made partner in just five years. In April 2011, she was recruited by Tampa-based Franklin Street, which was opening an Atlanta office, to launch its tenant rep practice. Four years later, Monetha’s grown Franklin Street’s Southeastern team from two people in two states to 12 people representing clients across nine states. She’s also raking in the deals ($37M of the group’s $53M in tenant rep business in 2013) with clients like PNC Bank, Dollar Tree Stores, and Bealls Outlet. Four years in, she’s still “adapting” to balancing work with her 2.5-year-old son. In fact, she recently started taking sporting clay shooting classes with a girlfriend to save time—that’s only two hours; golf requires four… on a good day. View PDF
