Ask The Expert: What are your predictions for bank lending in 2020?

“2020 is looking to be another strong year for bank lending. Banks are continuing in growth mode and are actively seeking new clients and commercial real estate projects.  Banks are facing strong competition from other banks and non-banks and are looking for ways to set themselves apart. The smaller/regional banks are offering the most aggressive Loan-to-Values (LTV) and terms. The larger/national banks are focused primarily on the larger projects and the experienced borrowers.

Stabilized office, retail, multifamily and industrial projects are the most highly sought after. Construction loans continue to be available with some of the banks being more selective than others. Many banks are now offering limited and non-recourse terms with more favorable prepayment penalties.”
