The Pure Barre fitness studio in Riverside is expanding to San Marco.

Pure Barre will open inside the 3,050-square-foot space of the former Olive Boutique at 1988 San Marco Blvd.

The owners of the Riverside location, Victoria Koster and Jenny Parker, signed a five-year lease for the building, which will open in January 2015. The Olive Boutique will close on Oct. 30. Carrie Smith, regional managing partner of Franklin Street, represented Pure Barre in the lease transaction.

“When we opened in Riverside, we really pulled a lot of customers from Avondale and Ortega, so we thought we would open up our shop in San Marco to replicate the success we had there,” Koster said.

Koster wasn’t sure how much the build-out of the space will cost; building out the 1,450-square-foot studio in Riverside cost about $50,000, she said.

The new location will serve as an active wear retail boutique as well as a studio,Koster said. The studio portion will be about 1,000 square feet.

Pure Barre offers 55-minute group fitness classes for women and focuses on strength and stretching exercises inspired by ballet, yoga and Pilates.

The company became a franchise in 2005 and has 225 locations across the country.
The San Marco location will be the fourth in the Jacksonville area, with a different ownership group operating studios in Jacksonville Beach and Tapestry Park. View PDF
