“Freaky fast” sandwiches are coming Downtown — but you’ll have to wait a few more months to get your hands on them.

Jimmy Johns Gourmet Sandwiches signed a lease Tuesday to set up its 12th Jacksonville location, this one in the Elks Building Downtown.

The 1,400 square-foot restaurant, located at the corner of North Laura and Adams streets, is scheduled to open January 2015.

Based in Illinois, Jimmy Johns serves sandwiches and submarine sandwiches and specializes in delivery. The chain operates 1,954 restaurants throughout the U.S. It’s currently ranked No. 5 on Entrepreneur magazine’s Franchise 500 list, below Supercuts at No.4 and Subway at No.3.

Jacksonville’s first Jimmy John’s opened in Tapestry Park on the Southside in March 2010.

The company did not respond to a call or email earlier Thursday. View PDF
