Dental lab finds a new home near airport

"DDS Lab has about 40,000 to 50,000 cases of materials per month in and out of Tampa International Airport, so locating near TIA was important. Franklin Street brokered the deal and helped find the right site," said Kurt Frahn, chief financial officer for DDS Lab.

A Tampa company has doubled its headquarters space, as it continues to add staff to serve a fast-growing segment of the dental industry.

DDS Lab LLC, a full-service dental laboratory, opened the doors of its new office at 5440 Beaumont Center Blvd., during the last week in February, said Kurt Frahn, chief financial officer. The 28,000-square-foot space is twice the size of its former location and DDS has an option for expansion space, he said.

The new headquarters is home to about 140 of DDS’ 1,000 workers. The company has been staffing up, hiring dental technicians, accont managers and other upper-level managers, in anticipation of the move, and plans to continue hiring dental techs, computer-aided design and computer-aid manufacturing personnel and customer service representatives, Frahn said.

DDS Lab specializes in crowns, bridges, dentures, partials, implant restorations, orthodontics and mouth guards. The company serves dental service organizations, which provide dentists with business and support services.

“We are fortunate to be participating in the fastest-growing segment of the dental industry,” Frahn said.

DDS Lab was acquired by private equity firms CITIC Capital Partners and Blue Sea Capital, who partnered with DDS Lab management on the purchase in 2014. It also has a manufacturing operation in Shenzhen, China, according to a press release from Franklin Street.
