Joel Dumes, Regional Managing Director of the Franklin Street Student Housing Team, started his career in real estate in 2003 as a retail investment specialist. In his tenure, he has earned countless achievement awards and has been recognized as one of the leading real estate brokers in the Midwest/South. He has successfully brokered over $2.5 billion of real estate including student housing, apartments, shopping centers, single-tenant net leased properties, and office/industrial properties all across the nation. Joel and his partners have built out an institutional student housing brokerage team over the past 6 years and have brokered well over $500 million in assets from Berkley, California to Gainesville, Florida.
Joel graduated from Miami University in 2002 with a double major in International Business and Marketing, with a minor in Japanese. After college, he spent a year in Tokyo, Japan, before coming back to the United States where he began his real estate career at Marcus & Millichap. At Marcus & Millichap, Joel earned the title of Senior Managing Director of Investments in 2019, one of the highest designations for agents at the company. Joel was consistently the #1 producer in the Cincinnati office and frequently the #1 producer in the Midwest region. He headed the #1 highest producing team in the region for over a decade.
In addition to his real estate brokerage activities and professional affiliations, Joel is very active in the community. Joel, along with his wife and three children, works with the Ronald McDonald House, the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati, and organizations like Dreams Come True and Starfire. In his free time, Joel loves golfing, skiing, hiking, traveling, coaching and spending time with his family.
