As General Counsel, Eual Tyler Cathey provides leadership and guidance for a rapidly expanding commercial real estate firm handling billions of dollars in transaction volume. Ensuring the execution of strategic goals, Mr. Cathey is responsible for developing teams across multiple lines of business—in offices from Miami to Atlanta—and prioritizing the components of Franklin Street’s national growth.
Mr. Cathey advises on business services and geographic expansion, oversees the corporate functions of the company, and recruits and develops top talent. Alongside his team, Cathey establishes goals for individual and corporate successes, driving the realization of both. Additionally, Mr. Cathey provides counsel for the company and its Board of Directors on all legal matters; in this respect, he manages litigation risk, protects the company’s corporate assets, and advises on regulatory issues.
Mr. Cathey leverages a broad skillset, crafted over years of accomplishments in various fields. He has achieved success in athletic competition as a student-athlete at Muhlenberg College, in sophisticated litigation on behalf of national clients at Holland & Knight, and in serving as the principal advisor to Florida’s Attorney General on all legal and administrative matters. Mr. Cathey was responsible for running the operations of the Office of the Attorney General, and for overseeing nearly 500 lawyers and 1,300 employees.
Mr. Cathey is a current member of the Board of Directors for Junior Achievement of Tampa Bay and an advisory board member for Christ the King Catholic School in Tampa. He is also on the Candidate Selection Committee of Maverick PAC.
Mr. Cathey was named the 2018 Top Corporate Counsel of the year (Private company, 1,000 or more employees category) by the Tampa Bay Business Journal. In 2018, Florida Governor Rick Scott appointed Mr. Cathey to the Second District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission. Previously, he was a member of the Federal Judicial Nominating Commission of Florida for the Middle District, Chairman of Connect Florida, and a Gubernatorial Fellow. Mr. Cathey received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida and his bachelor’s degree from Muhlenberg College.
