In his role as CFO, Mr. Zahn presides over the Accounting, Financial Planning and Analysis, Tax, Treasury and Risk Management functions of the organization. Other responsibilities include participating in the business expansion initiatives of the company, optimizing the capital structure for sustained growth, and enhancing systems, analytics, procedures and processes of the organization.
Prior to joining Franklin St., Mr. Zahn served as the CFO of a large, growth oriented restaurant chain (60+ Units) where he successfully expanded the company’s capital structure to facilitate the organizations growth plans, while also developing systems and processes that dramatically increased transparency into the financial performance of the Company for both operators and investors. Additionally, Mr. Zahn led the team which oversaw the acquisition and disposition of corporate units.
Mr. Zahn also served as the CFO and EVP of Corporate Development for a high growth business services organization backed by Private Equity in the Human Capital sector. In this role Mr. Zahn played a key role in developing the strategy, systems and processes that allowed the organization to grow more than 10x over a seven-year period. Mr. Zahn’s duties included developing the financial processes and systems which facilitated this growth, raising both debt and equity capital that allowed for the execution of the Company’s strategy and was a key member of the M&A team which sourced, assessed, evaluated and integrated acquisition targets in the U.S., Canada, Europe and Asia. In this capacity, Mr. Zahn was twice nominated as a finalist as the top CFO in Tampa Bay.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Zahn was the Managing Director of a boutique consulting firm which specialized in business strategy development and raising capital for high growth firms across an array of industries.
Mr. Zahn is a CPA (inactive) and received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business.
