OBJ: Five Golden Corrals in Central Florida to be closed or sold amid Ch. 11 bankruptcy reorganization

A handful of Orlando-area Golden Corrals are closing or being sold as the largest local operator of the all-you-can-eat buffets seeks Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization. 

Winter Park-based 1069 Restaurant Group LLC — which controls entities related to roughly 33 Golden Corrals in Florida and Georgia — had planned to close or sell some of its Golden Corrals after it voluntarily filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Oct. 5. Winter Park restaurant giant Eric Holm’s Holm & Holm Corp. Inc. owns 1069 Restaurant Group LLC.

… These properties — near the airport and tourist corridor — offer opportunities to new restaurants, especially those that are fast casual or delivery friendly, said retail expert Terrence Hart, senior director at Franklin Street of Orlando. That said, it’s unlikely they’ll continue as buffets, a restaurant sector that’s been hammered during the pandemic.

“When tourism comes back, these are phenomenal locations,” Hart said.
