In real estate circles, Andrew Wright is largely known for launching Franklin Street at age 25 and growing it through the recession. In 2015, though, Wright will face a much more public challenge. Franklin Street has been tapped by Tampa Bay Lightning Owner Jeff Vinik to oversee the leasing and management of Channelside Bay Plaza, the beleaguered waterfront mall in downtown Tampa’s Channel district. The challenge Wright faces in 2015 is making the plaza into a destination before the remainder of the surrounding neighborhood is built. It’s his job to create a place that will draw in not only the surrounding neighborhood, but the entire city.
