Melissa DePalma serves as Vice President of Finance and Accounting in Franklin Street’s Tampa, Florida headquarters. She has more than 25 years of accounting management, auditing and compliance experience in commercial real estate.
Ms. DePalma is responsible for leading Franklin Street’s finance and accounting services, including systems, employee management, and financial reporting. As Vice President, she directs all aspects of the firm’s accounting operations, overseeing all transactions related to general ledger, receivables, payables, and financial reporting. Ms. DePalma's responsibilities include developing and maintaining all necessary accounting policies and systems for accuracy and compliance, as well assisting senior management in financial planning and results management.
Prior to joining Franklin Street, Ms. DePalma served as the U.S. Compliance Director for Cushman & Wakefield’s Corporate Occupier and Investor Services (CIS) Group. She oversaw the compliance program and monitored the overall control environment for CIS. Her key responsibilities included updating, communicating, and training policies and procedures and performing site reviews and other special investigations such as potential integrity policy violations. She previously held the roles of Group Financial Manager for the Southeast region in CIS and Senior Group Financial Manager overseeing and supporting the regional accounting offices and national accounting initiatives.
During her career, Ms. DePalma has held a number of roles with firms including Deloitte, Prudential Real Estate, Colliers ABR, The Related Companies, and The Community Development Trust. She has diverse experience working for owners, developers, REITs and third-party managers of office, multifamily apartment and condominium, hotel, retail, and industrial properties.
Ms. DePalma received her B.A. from the University of Notre Dame and M.B.A. from New York University and is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner.
